Why did I create Cushla Moves?
I created Cushla Moves to be of service.
I wanted to reach people outside of the yoga studio and have a space where I could share my thoughts and share my offerings to others.
Cushla Moves started as an Instagram account during Covid-19 lockdown where we had to shift our practices from the studio and bring our movement practices to our home. I love the comfort and curiosity that this brought to students' way of moving. Since then I have also shifted, I’ve moved back to my home city, I’ve adjusted what I teach and where and I have grounded deeper into what aligns and is of value to me. I want to share this with you.
Why Moves?
Because I love all forms of movement! I believe every form of movement is important and valuable. I didn’t want to limit myself to one type of offering, I love yoga, dance, pilates, resistance training and I want you to know that you don’t have to limit yourself to one thing either.
Take time to play, to figure out what you like and be open to trying new things. New ways of moving your body all teach you something unique and different and they are pathways to understanding yourself and your unique, capable, powerful bodies a little bit more.
To provide you with the tools to feel strong and capable in yourself.
To inspire confidence in people and help them find love for moving their bodies.
This shows up not just to others in how we’re communicating but also with how we are treating ourselves. Are we being real and honest with ourselves and how we’re showing up? Or are we playing a role or lying to ourselves and others by trying to be something we’re not?
Creativity is an important value of mine as I need it in my life. We are creative beings. We are problem solvers, we adapt and shift and create constantly. Look at our technology and all that is available to us now that never existed before, that came from creativity and an urge to try something different or do something in a new way. Creativity is how we evolve and grow and it has a sense of play and messy-ness to it which is valuable in our evolution.
Love, how can I not have love? Love is essential to life. It is our connection to others, it is how we step out of fear by tuning into love and love it all about being brave! Brave enough to love ourselves even when we see ourselves as flawed or messy or less than. Through love we can express kindness and acceptance to others because we know that there is no divide or separation between us.
The studio is located in the suburbs in St Albans, Christchurch. An easy drive to or from the city with accessible street parking. We are located down the driveway in a block of townhouses, the specific address will be sent to you at confirmation of our appointment.
The Cushla Moves Studio space is cosy, comfortable and designed to make you feel at ease with any movement you explore in your body. See our session like a conversation, I will cater a program based on what I believe you need and throughout, let me know what works or doesn’t work for you. I am always happy to grow, adapt, and shift with you.
